Margaret Atwood

Margaret Atwood was born in Ottawa in 1939, and grew up in northern Quebec and Ontario. She is one of Canada's most renowned writers, the author of more than twenty-five books: novels, short stories, poetry, literary criticism, social history, and books for children. The Handmaid’s Tale has been adapted for the screen by Harold Pinter. Her most recent novel, Alias Grace, won the prestigious Giller Prize in Canada. Margaret Atwood and her husband, novelist Graeme Gibson, live in Toronto.
